Christie De Leon

I teach at the Gateway to College Program at South Texas College. This program gives students who have dropped out a second chance to graduate and earn their high school diploma and significant college credit. This is grant-funded program that puts students on a path to college readiness. Many students come to our program and have truly changed their past habits. Previously these students lacked the skills and motivation to succeed but enter our program motivated to finish their degree, proceed to college, and get a better life for themselves and their families. Because of the background of many of our students, who have had previously poor attendance, it is difficult for our program to run from ADA funding. The more donations that we keep will allow more students to complete their high school degrees and begin on the path to college, beating the odds and accomplishing their dreams.
