I am requesting support for the special education students in a 7/8 Resource Room. The greatest need they have is to be exposed to technology. Word processing keyboards would greatly help them with writing. I have used rescources such as alphasmart boards in the past. I am at a new school this year and such technology is not available. Also a projector such as the Epson would enable me to utilize and project resources from the internet to the screen from my computer. I have 28 years of teaching experience in Lansing School District which is a financially struggling district. My students have limited access to computers as they have to be shared with the larger general education population. They are reluctant writers, as many are learning disabled or have dysgraphia. Having a keyboard available to them decreases the frustration during the writing process. It is much easier to edit their work and they are able to complete a neatly writing project which includes a beginning, middle and conclusion. Thanks in advance for considering my classoroom.
