If we are blessed enough to receive a grant or partnership with Office Max, we will utilize the funds to help buy RtI materials. RtI stands for Response to Intervention and it is a special method of helping students achieve in both reading and math. We are trying to better establish our RtI for reading and establish our RtI for math. In RtI, students are assessed for their current level of achievement and specific detriments are analyzed and charted. Then, special interventions are utilized to bring that child up to standard. After a period of specified time working with the intervention, the child is assessed again for progress. If adequate progress is made, the teacher works on another area of specified need for the child. If adequate progress is not made, a new intervention is applied for that child. The whole purpose is to individualize reading and math for every student we serve and to help each and every child reach their potential and beyond.
