I have been teaching at a new school for eight years now and have slowly added items to my classroom out of my own pocket. I was not given a math manipulative set and buy what I can from the dollar store. Needless to say it doesn` t last long. Today while teaching money, I thought how great it would be if I had better supplies and maybe even a cash register or two for them to get a real life experience with. I would like to add any hands-on manipulatives to my classroom that would benefit my students and their state testing! I would love to also add to my classroom an interactive board so as to incorporate more technology into my curriculum. I have several children with special needs in my classroom and often having hands on manipulative activities would be more beneficial to teaching than paper and pencil. Even with special needs these students are required to meet state testing requirements. I supply what I can out of my own pocket. Recently I became a single mother of three and this just isnt possible any longer. Any type of technology materials, or just hands on manipulatives would be of great help. I just want my babies to have what other schools have. Just unable to do it on my own.
