I have the privilege to lead an amazing group of learners each year in my classes. I am the elementary physical education teacher in a wonderful community in Western Massachusetts. The groups of children I work with each year come to me with very diverse backgrounds. They are often from single parent homes, living under the poverty scale. What they lack in material objects is not evident in the desire to learn, and in their work ethics. These sweet kids come to school every day craving to learn and grow. With the stress of fiscal budgets and cuts, physical education is often one of the first places budgets are cut. It is for this reason I am signing on for this wonderful organization. I would use this money to replace and buy equipment for all my students. With the national obesity rate lifelong healthy living is the basis for my curriculum. Please allow me to help my students learn about healthy lifestyles and to enjoy moving their bodies and staying healthy. I appreciate your taking the time to consider my classroom.
