In an effort to provide comprehensive services to students experiencing significant emotional and/or behavioral difficulties, Montgomery County Public School (MCPS), Maryland has established the Emotional Disabilities (ED) Cluster Services. The ED Unit at Carl Sandburg meets the needs of students in grades K-1 who are experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties in school. By identifying developmentally appropriate learning strategies and interventions, a play therapy room was created that lets the students express their feeling and emotions while the psychologist and social workers are able to work one-on-one with them.
