Icurrently teach in Chicago Public Schools at the third grade level. My class will be comprised of a diverse population, mostly minority students from the surrounding community.I will also have special needs inclusion students and students who work under IEP`s which gurantee mod- ifications of some kind. With that having been said, my goal is to target the interests of each child as best I can. For example, with the boys I`d like to utilize more non-fiction and informational text as well as hands on science and math activities.I intend to do quite a bit of art with the class to foster and promote creativity that might not otherwise reveal itself. I could really use art related materials such as tempera paints, cardstock, book making materials and glue etc. For reading, I`d like to incorporate fine arts in the form of plays, readers theatre and drama. Therefore, I could use props, settings, curtains, a microphone or tape recorder etc. to enhance this component . Additionally,technology related items would certainly be worthwhile and a great addition for my third graders. We strongly wish for an e-reader, Ipad and mp3 player.
