I teach 8th grade science at a school that is 68 percent free and reduced lunch. We are provided with plenty of technology for the students but it's the small things that add up. For example in science class we do a lot of sketching while doing hands on activities. I like for students to use color pencils for this task however the cost of a set of good color pencils can add up. I buy some less expensive color pencils and have my students share. By the end of the first nine weeks the pencils are being worn down.
I also use a strategy called an interactive notebook with my students. This requires them to have all of their notes and activities in one place in a certain order. This requires lots of glue, tape and paper which can also start adding up over the course of a school year.
Any donation for the above supplies would be appreciated. Thank you from myself and my students.
