VISIT OUR WEBSITE http://seminolesecme.blogspot.com/ OR FRIEND US ON FACEBOOK "Seminole SECME". Seminole SECME is an after-school engineering club with hands-on projects. SECME, Inc. is a supplemental program that promotes academic achievement for historically underrepresented students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math, but it is open to ALL students who want to participate. We won six trophies and ribbons—including the third place overall for Palm Beach County—in the 2012 Olympiad engineering competition. Teams from 16 high schools countywide participated in the Februarys Olympiad. Students squared off in competition to race their mousetrap-powered model cars, launch their model rockets, build (and break!) their model balsa wood bridges; demonstrate their knowledge in the Brain Bowl, rumble with VEX robotics competitions, and showcase their literary and artistic talents through essays, banners, and posters. The Hawks soared high: honorable mention - brain bowl; honorable mention - mousetrap powered vehicle; second place - water rocket; second place - poster; first place - banner; third place overall in the entire district! Coaches Erich Landstrom and Ed Batchelor, the school SECME coordinators, and principal James Campbell congratulate the Hawks on their awesome achievements. We are seeking sponsors to support the Seminole Ridge SECME program. Please consider donating. Any amount is very much appreciated, be it $2 or $20 or $200 dollars. Gifts can be made online by clicking the "Donate $" button. Your assistance allows us to purchase the parts we need, to build a better mousetrap car, a higher flying rocket, and an unbreakable bridge – our winning engineering entries! To visibly recognize our sponsors, we can acknowledge your generosity by going above and beyond a mention in our newsletter or on Twitter. We can fly your logo on the side of our rockets at launches, giving a higher profile for our donors (so to speak)! We can name a bridge after you – our model balsawood bridge! We can mount your business card to the chassis of our VEX robot for spectators to see in the arena.
