Aloha, This is an Hawaiian Immersion classroom. We learn all of our content in the Hawaiian Language. Our goal is to perpetuate the Hawaiian language and educate our students to the highest standards. Our hope is that the students feel proud to speak another language (for most of my students this is their native language). And gain insight on their own, and all other cultures of the world. To accomplish our goals we need to teach reading in Hawaiian. Since there are only a few books in Hawaiian we end up making our own books. We could really use book making materials such as: paper, construction paper, glue, sheet protectors, printer ink, digital camera, memory card, laptop, anything that would help us teach literacy. Thank you all for helping teachers we could not do our job without your support. Mahalo, Dukie Akioka
