I have three blocks of 12 to 13 year-olds every day. Each class has 24 to 26 students. My students are eager to learn, most do their homework, and all have been well-behaved so far this school year. Currently I have a homemade document camera which I built for $45. CMS only has one commercial document camera (an Elmo) to share among all the grade levels (40 teachers). I use my homemade one regularly and it works nearly as well as a commercial one, but the only laptop I have to use with it is an older model and belongs to the math department and is one of only two that have to be shared among 13 teachers! I would love to have a newer version that I can keep in my classroom as this is a piece of technology that the students and I like to use everyday. Even though I can check out a mobile lab of laptops or net books to use at times, they are not always available. I would love to have one to six computers that stay permanently in my classroom for math games and tutorial software.
