The Welch family is excited as our school will be entering its 4th year this fall! Our Art Program is growing, with the hope of implementing an Art Club this year, as well as participating in the PTA National Reflections program. As is the case with many school systems during these tough times, recent budget cuts have made additional supplies difficult to come by. At this point, we are just thankful that we still have an Art program. Our PTA has stepped in to help out, and it is wonderful to have their support. But, they do have a responsibility to the entire school, so funding the art program cannot be their sole focus. Art is such a wonderful thing for children to experience. They learn, but they get to create in the process. To see a child utilize hands-on skills to express his or her own creativity is such a rewarding thing! What a difference things like a kiln for clay work, easels for drawing or painting, handheld mirrors for self-portrait work, or a significant amount of heavy paper for painting would make. Slowly but surely we look forward to continually improving and building up the Welch Art Program! Thank you for your support. It is an honor and privilege to teach your children!
