Dear Friends,
I teach Middle School Math at a K-8 Center to a very diverse group of students with very specific needs. I teach both ends of the math spectrum since I have 2 lower level 7th grade classes in Regular math and 6th grade students taking Advanced 7th grade math. I also have 7th and 8th grade Gifted and Advanced students taking High School Level Algebra I. Our school implements full inclusion and I teach a group of ESE and Hearing Impaired students who require adapted strategies and specialized equiptment and materials. We need a set of classroom calculators and a variety of hands on Algebra manipulatives. I believe that I can connect better with the students in a very interactive math environment. We would also benefit from day to day supplies, such as construction paper, glue, markers, compasses, protractors and graph paper, so that we can make math models and let the students experience math with a very tactile and sensory approach. This is our first year as a full middle school math program, so we are just beginning to build our department. Any funding and support would greatly benefit our growing math program. Thank you. Mrs. Costero :)
