As my second year teaching, I received the keys to my room and entered this year with more confidence, but feeling less overwhelmed by the cockroaches and more overly concerned with the task at hand. In this community, so many kids aren't presented with many opportunities to receive an excellent education. This is my year to see that the opposite is the case for all of my students.
I went into debt just before this school year buying the supplies I knew would be necessary to ensure the success of my students in science class. And as the year on, it will be necessary to maintain supplies as well as continue to present the opportunities for them to strengthen their minds and intellect with hands-on labs and engaged inquiry.
Last year I was able to purchase calculators and small dry-erase boards that I still use this year, thanks to your and others' donations. I also bought "Owl Pellets" (owl poop... for dissection, which I remember doing when I was in school). I was so excited to use them! Any support you can contribute to my classroom will be not only appreciated but used for the most important tools.
Important to note: Reusable supplies stay at my school in the future if I no longer teach, so the supplies are still available to the students.
Thanks again!!! Much love.
