I strive to create a love of reading with my students. In order to do this, I purchase class sets of trade books. I feel this is the best way to reach all of my students. I aim to find books of different genres, topics, and interests, thus reaching as many children as possible. Additional funding will help me reach this goal. I would not only like to purchase more trade books for focused units, but I would also like to build a larger classroom library. Additionally, funding would afford me the opportunity to purchase more professional development books, so that I may continue to grow in my career (in all subjects). I am a third year teacher, and I am in this for the long haul! I believe I have a wonderful community of learners, and I believe reading has played a major role in achieving that environment. I want every book to have a unique lesson. I hope each activity we do with our classroom books creates a lasting impression, develops a love of reading, and creates life long readers.
