I teach children with physical disabilities (K-2) at an inner city school in Reading, PA. As part of our math program, my class operates The Patriot Store. This store is a school-wide incentive program designed to encourage all students to read independently, achieve academic success, and improve behavior. Students earn Patriot Dollars to purchase school supplies, books, and small toys. My physically disabled students gain hands-on math experience as they count and sort items, and make change as they work as cashiers at the store. Donations are used to purchase items for the store, so that more students can participate. Please visit us online: http://www.mrsreber.com/patriotstore.htm
