My classroom serves middle school students at a residential facility for children with severe emotional and behavioral problems. My students have all experienced varying degrees of trauma, neglect or abuse, have been removed from their homes, and currently reside in a therapeutic treatment facility. Students often enter my room with long histories of academic struggles and negative school experiences. I provide a safe and structured learning environment with the goal of creating a successful school experiences through teaching self-responsibility, self-management, and self-reliance. I work hard to provide them with quality and relevant learning materials, but often end up buying single books out of pocket and making copies. Any received help would be deeply appreciated, and would go towards providing students with reading books, textbooks & workbooks, art supplies and much needed science materials.
