My goal is for students to become problem-solvers in their current and future world. By relating mathematics to real situations in the world, I hope to reveal to them how interconnected their learning environment can be.
I strive to foster a conceptual understanding of mathematics. This involves going beyond the teaching mathematics as a fixed system of procedures.
A good instructor of mathematics challenges the student to explore and
investigate a math problem and to come up with their own strategies for arriving at a solution.
Key words that describe my classroom are, interactive, fast-paced, and hand-on. I currently have an ActivBoard in my classroom that keeps the students attention. They love to come to the board and interact with it. Using the ActivBoard has change my teaching style and my thoughts on the future of education. However the cost of the bulb for the projector is $450 a year. Your donations would help pay for this as well as other costs like; dry earse markers, washcloths, heavy sheet protectors, card stock, paper of any kind, colored pencils, rulers, graphing calculators, binders - 1 inch, dividers, tissue, Hershey Kisses, and highlighters.
