I teach a class of students with varying disabilities at the elementary level. They range in age from 5-11 and all have very different curricular and health needs. As a fairly new teacher, I am looking for ways to obtain needed supplies to meet my students physical, emotional, cognitive, sensory, and curricular needs in the most meaningful ways possible. We do everything in my classroom from reading, writing and math to social skills training, fine and gross motor practice, behavior intervention programs and sensory stimulation. With so many learners with such a large range of learning abilities and styles, it takes a wide variety of supplies and techniques to be sure that all needs are met. I seek to engage my students in the most meaningful learning so that their skills will generalize and be useful to them in all settings they encounter. My goal is to equip my students with the skills they will need to have productive, meaningful lives as contributing members of the local community to the best of their individual capabilities.
