Given the financial crisis that faces education today and in the near future, there are many things my classroom can use. We can always use math manipulatives and math games. Some are priced quite high and certainly out of range of the current budget allowances.
One need is art supplies that could be used to enable all students to participate in project creation that involves more than paper and pencil. I would also like to enhance the technology use in the classroom by adding jump drives, blank CDs, fancy computer paper, etc. This would aid in the publication of student created projects.
Now, if I could dream, I recently purchased a miniature PA system with a single wired microphone for use in my classroom. The students become so motivated to read into the mic. They read from books, poetry, and from their own writings. They are learning to use "voices" in their readings. Even the quietest and most shy student is happy to get up to the mic and read aloud. How I would love another two or so of these so that we could do entire readers` theater plays, while amplifying all the actors` voices!
Unfortunately, the list can go on. However, any help is a big help.
