The greatest area of concern in my classroom is the need of more books for our classroom library. I need a larger variety to meet the varied interest and reading levels of my diverse students. I have students who are just learning to read and some who are reading on a 3rd-4th grade level. With this broad range of ability, it is difficult to meet each child's needs with the selection I currently have. My class is a diverse group of children and I would like to provide them with text to meet their diverse interest and curiosity about the world we live in. I have students of differing cultural backgrounds and I would like to be able to celebrate their differences though the exploration of books that explain their country of origin. Most if not all of my students come from low-socioeconomic homes and simply do not have access a wide variety of books, and I would like to be able to provide this for them.
